It’s September 11 again, 9 years since the tragic incident took place. It’s hard to believe how much has changed since that day. Through out this time span, I have grown from a child to an adult, graduated 3 times, lost many old friends but also met many new ones and experienced different favors of life.

It’s amazing how much can happen with time, but no matter what happens, WE as a nation, will never forget the souls that were lost soo long ago. The sacrifices they made me brought to my attention how fragile life. Those souls brought us closer to each other whether as family or friends. God Bless America.

Conclusion of Summer 2010

So today was the last day of the Summer Session. No matter how excited I felt when I started this term, the feeling has definitely change by now. I began the term excited, motivated, ready to kick butts; but about halfway through the term I began to struggle. Probably because of the increasingly warm weather or the fact that most people are on vacation now, I did not feel as motivated and keen on working. The feeling is something like a broken down car being towed away; tired, non-functional and need some time off. However, this was not a good time to slow since the Summer Session moves in an extremely fast pace, before I knew it finals were upon me and now that school is over. I’m glad to say that I can enjoy the rest of my vacation in peace.

Born on the ninety first year of the twentieth century on the twenty eight day of the nine month, I was the 5th child to the family. Unlike most birth, mine was enveloped in tears of sadness. Just the year before, my maternal grandmother had passed away suddenly. Pain stricken with grief, my mother entered into a state of depression. Shortly after, she discovered that she was in expectance. This news did not bring any joy to her; in fact it bought more tears of sorrow. When my dad learns of this news, he got angry and urged my mom to have an abortion arguing that the family is not financially capable of supporting another child. Confused by this sudden blessing, my mother did not know what to do.

Sequentially, after listening to the advice of her aunts and a fortune telling, my mother decided to give birth to me. I never found out what my dad’s reaction was after learning my mother’s decision, I never asked because it’s a depressing matter. I suppose that the months during the pregrancy were some of the most gruesome for my mom, having to care for a family of 6 (at the time) while spending endless hours in the apparel factory of Chinatown. Finally, the nine months passed and I was born in the delivery room of Beth Israel Hospital of New York City.

2nd Snow Day in 3 weeks,

So today NYC Public Schools and CUNYs Colleges had their 2nd snow day in February, making February one of the snowiest month in NYC since the late 1800. I woke up at around 8 today to find out that NYC Public Schools are closed because a man was killed after being struck by a falling tree branch in Central Park Yesterday. However, no source said anything about CUNYS being closed, so I went to school thinking that I could get my MaTLab class over with and go to the library to do my research paper. However I got to school an hour later to find that it was closed. Unwillingly, I dragged down the hill to the station and took the train home.

The two snow days this February accounts for at least 50% of the snow days I had in my life, the last being in 2009 and the other back in the early 2000s.

New Manhattan Portage Bag!

It’s been a while since I got a new bag. The last bag I bought was a Green North Face Recon, back in 2008. The bag however, proved to be much more suitable for outdoor activities than academic uses. So for the past three years, I’ve my Red Hot Shot for school, while switching to the Green Recon from time to time. However, as time passes as the Hot Shot turns weary and I thought it was time for a replacement.

Because the last two bags that I bought were NorthFaces, I wanted to try getting a messenger bag for a change. I have 4 Manhattan Portage messenger bags, but this was the first one I bought; the other three being previously owned by my sister; and are either too small to fit all the books that I have to carry around daily or doesn’t come with a laptop compartment. So after months of research on different bags, I finally took out the courage last week and went to buy it with the red envelopes from Chinese New Year. Let’s hope that the bag last me a life time.

Boston – Week 4

As unblievable as it seem, the 4th week of the Fall Term is quickly coming to an end, leaving about 9 weeks of classes left, before finals. Amazing. As the weeks past, I’m finally here staying up at night craming for a mid-term – something I had too much experiences with back at Tech. In additon, I had a Chem “mid-term” today and have a engineering project due next week, ofically making this the busiest week of my time here.

Thinking back, I went for a job interview yesterday, except that I couldn’t find the place, so I ended walking around the area for about 1/2 hour before I gave up on it. It was kinda far away from the school, up by Cambridge- and I did n’t like the rural environment. So in the end, I ended going to Chinatown for a quick lunch then came back for a nap. – Wasted.

On the non-acadmic side, my Ipod-shuffle arrived yesterday, instead of the estimated date of arrival, which is today. I love it because it’s so small so I can clip it to anywhere I want and for the voice-over control on the headphones. Problem is that I don’t know what to do if they break, they cost about $30 to replace.

I’ve been also spending a lot of money lately. I think I spend about $400-500 this month… not too good. I really need a bank account to manage my money better.

So this is enough for tonight. I should really go study for that mid-term.

A long night ahead of me

It is 03:13 EST right now and here I am sitting in NU’s Snell Library making this post after many many hours of work, although I didn’t managed to get much work done in the many hours I’ve been here. It’s literally deserted here, with around 10 people on the entire floor, which isn’t bad compared to the usual load in the morning. Recently, I’ve developed a habit of staying up at night in the library, while taking long naps during the day; thanks to my awesome.

So it’s been almost 4 weeks since college started, as the day passes, I find myself to like this place more and more. Although, I still get homesicked from time to time. College is defintely a new experience for me, but the courseload isn’t too bad.

A really interesting that happened since I got here was that I won a tool-kit at a raffle. The really funny thing was that, it was sponspered by the HSCE- Honor Society of Civil Engineers;- my major. Of all the prizes that I could’ve won and of all people that could’ve won the tool-kit, it was me. Pretty Strange eh. It’s a pretty nice tool-kit, with wrenches, screw-drivers, a hammer, etc. (I was hoping for a electrical drill though; haha). I’ll upload a picture of it when I get a chance.

As for the upcoming week, I think I have a pretty long week ahead of me, 2 mid terms (Chem & Cal), Engineering Design project due and history paper to write. But that’s what these all nighters are for.
